Since October 2020 Andreas Kaltenbrunner is part of the Algorithmic Data Analysis Group at the ISI Foundation in Tuirn. He is also teaching a master course on data based social analytics at UPF Barcelona and is involved in research activities centred on computational social science, social media and social network analysis. He has co-authored more than 70 publications in these areas. He obtained his PhD in Computer Science and Digital Communication in 2008 from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra with a thesis about stochastic effects in human and neural communication patterns. Afterwards he joined the Information Retrieval Group of the technology centre Barcelona Media where he analysed structural, temporal and behavioural patterns in human interactions in social media websites. He later co-founded in October 2010 as senior researcher the Social Media research line within Barcelona Media and led it from May 2013 onwards. Between June 2015 and August 2017 he lead the Digital Humanities Research Unit at the technology centre Eurecat, before joining NTENT in September 2017 as Director of Data Analytics, where he lead a team focusing on the analysis of user behaviour and improvements for ranking in mobile search to improve users satisfaction and retention. Andreas has served as local Chair of ICDM 2016 and is member of the program committees of ICWSM, CIKM, WSDM, WWW, HT, CHI, IC2S2 and of the editorial board of Elsevier’s Journal on Online Social Networks and Media.
