Areas of expertise
François Pérès obtained a PhD degree in Bordeaux University in 1996 and entered the prestigious Ecole Centrale of Paris as assistant professor where he spent five years working in the Industrial Engineering Laboratory. Head of the research group dealing with robust design and dependability activities he was also, at that time, director of a technology transfer center specialized in prototyping. Following a research supervisor accreditation he joined the Institut National Polytechnique and is currently full professor at Toulouse University, working inside the Laboratoire Génie de Production as leader of the Uncertainty Risk and Decision group. His research deals with risk management applied mainly to the design and maintenance strategies of manufactured products. Lately some extensions of his work have concerned risk assessment approach and more precisely the interpretation of sensor network information through uncertainty handling methods such as Belief Functions, Bayesian or Evidential Networks... François Peres has been author or co-author of about 120 articles, 40 of them in international journals indexed in Isiweb or Scopus and director or co-director of 20 PhD students, reviewer of more than 40 PhD committees. He is involved in various national and international projects, member of several scientific committees (vice chair of IFAC TC5.1 + vice chair of IFAC TC 8.3 + member of IFIP WG 5.7, IEEE Reliability Society, …), chair of the French Group on Maintenance (H2M – Health Management and Maintenance) of the CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique), chair of the ESRA Manufacturing TC, affiliated to international research programs at European level like (H2020, Cost, Intereg) and sollicitated as international expert by the Romanian Ministry of Research and Education. He is also an elected member of the French University National Council representing industrial engineering topics and President of a Scientific Committee of Evaluation of the ANR (French Research National Agency).
